a metal ball and a plastic ball of equals size are dropped together.
does the metal ball hit the floor first?
They hit the same time. Gravity pulls everything down at the
same speed. This is ONLY if the air resistance is the same for both
objects.
In the moon with no resistance they will hit the ground same time.
theoritically,it will hit the ground at same time.
v^2 - u^2 = -2gs
v = u - gt
you can see the mass doesnt come into play
but the air resistance may slow the plasic ball
First what type of metal is being used & how long is the drop.
If 2 things of equal size are dropped the object with the heaver mass will
hit the ground first like if you dropped a basket ball & a fist full of
uranium for example the uranium is most likely to hit the ground first. Do
to how many protons neutrons & electrons in the atom of that element. But
if you mold it to become flat is might be slowed do to having to move
threw the airs viscosity because the ball is no longer round but flattened. But all you need to know is what king of metal ur using & what height ur dropping it from.
No.
If dropped in a vacuum, they will hit the ground at exactly the
same time. In atmosphere, resistance on the plastic one will be more
apparent.
well it depends .. where.. what invironment.. If ur on the moon
then they would hit the ground at the same time.. on earth the density of
the metal ball will pull it faster towards earth because the terminal
velocity of the metal ball is faster then the plastic ball..
it just depends on where ur at...
You said equal size, you did not say equal mass or equal
volume. Considering air resistance, a larger(volume) ball would receive
more. I general all things accelerate toward the earth at the same rate,
but air resistance slows some things more than others.
no the force of gravity is equal on all objects the hit at the
same time, though air resistance can play a partin objects with more
surface area. but on balls no.
They should land at the same time, if the plastic ball is not
so light that air resistance can affect its fall. (For example, a hallow
ping pong ball.
Yes, the metal ball does hit first *unless* they are the same
weight as well - I assumed they weren't because you only specified size.
no - they hit at the same time - gravity works the same on all
objects. (assuming there is no affect because of air resistance).
